Little Poker and a Happy Thanksgiving

Before I left Austin for the Thanksgiving Break I played a 2 hour session on Full Tilt Poker. Not too much happened, lost a few small pots, did not really participate in any large pots. Ended down $60 for 2 hours of play. I think my stats on Full Tilt are something like ten or so hours of play and down $200. Not enough hands or hours to really conclude anything. Need to get a larger sample size :)

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

BIG NEWS!

Texas Poker Project was featured in the latest edition of Poker Life Magazine (the one with Pamela Anderson on the cover) in the University section under the University of Texas at Austin. Go check it out when you get a chance! It is in Barnes and Nobles stores nationwide!

Played on Full Tilt in the wee hours of the morning. Played for 4 hours. Loss of $222. Ouch. Not too bad at the $100 buyin, that's only 2.2 buyins, but it was a brutal night. I won one large hand when my top boat beat a smaller boat. And that's it. Rest of the hands I lost were just the bad run of the cards. I would have KK v AK and lose when an ace spikes on the river. Top set vs nut flush draw and get sucked out on. Oh well. Hopefully later this week (if I get a chance to play) I can redeem myself.

I did turn the speakers up so I could hear the sound cues. That helped a lot. However, I decided to five table instead of my normal 3 or 4 and I am wondering if that was a little too much. I used to five table on Party Poker with no problem. I think the cards were just not falling for me last night and I have to learn that when that is happening to just ride it out and play the best poker I can. Even if you are playing your "A" game you can still have a losing session.

Full Tilt Poker: My First Experience

So, I started on Full Tilt Poker this evening. Played for about 2 hours on the $100 buyin tables, blinds $.50/$1.00, 3 tabling. Profitted about $46 in 2 hours time. Earned about $14 of my $600 bonus (you get the bonus for being a first time depositor on full tilt.) Not too shabby I suppose.

However, my night was ruined on the third to last hand. I am new to the Full Tilt software and still not used to all the sound ques. Well, I was standing up from my other two tables and did not realize I had a hand on the third table. I saw it for a split second when there was 1 second left to act, suffice to say, I was folded. The hand? KK. Suck. That'll teach me. I think I will play with my speakers on high volume from now on.

So I finally played poker after going about five weeks without playing a single hand. I played at a friends apartment on Saturday evening and last night as well.

Saturday night went alright. I got lucky on a few hands after pushing all in with just A8 out of position, was called by TT, and spiked an Ace to keep me alive. Then, I semi bluffed all in with KT with the ten of diamonds, board was all low diamonds. I was called by 77 with the seven of diamonds, and spiked a King to win the pot. Yay me! I ended up doubling up for the night after losing about 70% of my stack, so I was quite happy with the final outcome.

Last night was an entirely different story. I was truly playing my A game the entire night. I was making plays at pots at exactly the right time as well as picking people off when they were trying to make a play at me (sorry sho mama). All in all, I was up about 3 buyins and then some. Great night to an awful shitty weekend (if you do not follow college football, my longhorns lost a heart breaker on Saturday 45-42 to Kansas State... WTF!?)

I also made my first deposit onto Neteller. I have decided to start playing on Full Tilt Poker. I will let you all know how that goes in the coming weeks. Until then.

When will I get to play poker?

I have not played online poker in the last three weeks. If you had told me that about a month and a half ago that I would not have played online poker for three weeks I would have thought you were crazy! What could possible happen to my revenue generating hobby?

Honestly, I just have not made the switch over to any of the other poker sites that are allowing US customers to play on their site. I am still debating between Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker. I am still leaning towards Full Tilt Poker because they offer rakeback (through several third party sites.) What rakeback allows me to do is simple, I get my rake back. WOW what a concept. We all know that these online poker sites take a rake (a certain percentage or amount from each pot.) With rakeback, I can earn this money that was taken from me back. Quite a novel idea. Infact, I can earn about 27% of my rake back. With the number of hands I play per month, I am estimating that I will make about $150 a month in rake back. What's crazy to think is that I actually lost about $150 a month due to rake! Wow, no wonder there are so many poker sites on the internet (or were, heh). That's a lot of money to be made (although not anymore I suppose.)

In any case, hopefully once school starts to die down a little bit I will have more time to finally setup a poker account and start playing online again. Wish me luck.
